Dobbelt…. -hvafornoe? «Dobbelteksepsjonelle» barn, eller såkalt «twice exceptional» vil si evnerike barn som i tillegg har en diagnose (som f.eks. ADHD) eller en lærevanske (som f.eks. dysleksi, dyskalkuli..).
Dette er en gruppe barn som kan falle mellom to stoler av ulike årsaker: barnets sterke evner maskerer lærevansken eller diagnosen slik at det blir vanskelig for hjem og skole å hjelpe, eller lærevansken/diagnosen maskerer barnet sterke evner, og barnet får følgelig ikke den opplæringen han/hun faktisk har et reelt behov for.
Utgaven av Gifted Child Quarterly fra oktober 2013 er en spesialutgave som omhandler nettopp dobbelteksepsjonelle barn, og nå har utgiveren bestemt at bladet skal ligge ute gratis ut desember måned!
Gifted Child Quarterly utgis av den amerikanske organisasjonen National Association for Gifted Children, NAGC. Bladet ligger ute hos anerkjente SAGE Publications, i tillegg til at det sendes til medlemmene i NAGC.
Gifted Child Quarterly (GCQ) publishes original research and new and creative insights about giftedness and talent development in the context of the school, the home, and the wider society. Each issue offers quantitative and qualitative research studies that explore the characteristics of gifted students, program models, curriculum and other important areas that maximize the development and education of gifted students.
